Postdoctoral Research Fellow Receives a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Trainee Award
Larissa Rossen, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Faculty, is a recipient of the Research Trainee Award from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. This award recognizes exceptional health researchers in B.C., and supports them in the training phase of their research career.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Dr. Rossen received her PhD from the University of New South Wales. Her studies focused on infant development in the early years, following women during their pregnancies and the first year of motherhood.
Currently, she is the Co-Investigator of the Away We Grow Toddler Development Study, led by Associate Professor Yvonne Lamers, Faculty of Land and Food Systems, and Professor Tim Oberlander, Faculty of Medicine. Based out of the B.C. Children’s Hospital, this study will look at the nutrition needs of young children by comparing the effect of drinking regimens on toddler growth and development from 18-24 months of age.
