Professor Rajadurai Rajamahendran, Applied Animal Biology

After more than 28 years with our Faculty, Professor Rajadurai Rajamahendran retired in December 2015. Rajamahendran completed his MSc and PhD in Animal Science (Reproductive Physiology) at McGill University in the 1970s. He joined UBC as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Science in April 1987. In 1990, he was appointed Associate Professor and then made full Professor in 1995.

Professor Rajamahendran’s research focused on bovine reproduction, particularly using molecular techniques to study ovarian/uterine function, sperm function, fertilization, and early embryo development. His research lab at the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre developed reproductive technologies to reduce early embryonic mortality in dairy cattle.

Seane Trehearne, Research Technician, Totem Field

Seane Trehearne, the research technician responsible for Totem Field, retired in March 2016. During his thirty-year career at UBC, Trehearne worked for UBC Botanical Garden, the Greenhouse and Totem Field.  He is an inductee of the UBC 25 Year Club, established in 1971 to recognize non-faculty staff with 25 years of uninterrupted or accumulated service.
