Sessional Lecturer (Business Concepts in Aquaculture)

The Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada is seeking applications for a Sessional Lecturer position, from September 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

Applicants must have a Master Degree or PhD in a related field, be up to date with current business practices in the BC aquaculture industry, and have demonstrated ability to teach at the university level. Experience with organizing and supervising student projects carried out in conjunction with industry and government is an asset. The Faculty of Land and Food Systems uses student-centered learning to educate new generations of scientists equipped to solve the most fundamental issues faced by society (www.landfood.ubc.ca).

The successful applicant will be expected to teach a 2-credit graduate level course, AQUA 506: Business Concepts in Aquaculture. This course introduces students to general business concepts in operations and strategy, and provides students with a broad overview of marketing, competition, business strategy, operations, basic business finance, corporate social responsibility, organizational behavior and related ideas, with an emphasis on practical, real-world applications of these concepts. The Sessional Lecturer is responsible for delivery of course material, arranging office hours to meet with students, consultation with teaching assistants and/or markers, design and/or adaptation of questions for assignments and exams, and assignment of grades.
